This IDC Market Perspective looks at the technology trends from IDC's 2024 SaaSPath Survey and Office of the CFO Survey. The convergence of both sets of data showcase an example across finance of the gaps in products, processes, and portfolio offerings. The enterprise application world is changing and AI is at the forefront. But while helping reshape some business processes, AI has the ability to reshape all enterprise applications for the foreseeable future. "As the digital world evolves, enterprise applications are too. Organizations continue to invest in enterprise applications; however, so many processes within the functions are manual and not tied to the applications. While AI offers an opportunity to be embedded in the processes, simplify them and autonomize many of the processes, it also provides an avenue to look for more capabilities to be added within them and capture more within a function that is available in today's products," said Mickey North Rizza, group vice president, Enterprise Software. "The vendors that not only close the current gaps, embrace AI, and bring more autonomous workflows also have an opportunity to become the de facto standard enterprise application within a function."
