This IDC study shows that communications SPs are continuing to invest in their IT systems and network operations as a necessary component of the cloud-native journey. The recent momentum in 5G standalone commitments and focus on network APIs will serve as continued catalysts for this spending. The combined communications SP software solution market will grow from $29.8 billion in 2023 to $33.8 billion by 2027 as communications SPs look to create the flexibility and agility to support a lengthy list of 5G and digital transformation goals."Communications SPs are now closer than ever to being able to monetize 5G use cases, particularly within enterprise environments. To do so, they will need to continuously invest in real-time, partner-friendly provisioning, assurance, and monetization capabilities," said John Byrne, research vice president, Communications Service Provider Operations and Monetization Solutions at IDC. "Network operational insights, combined with a rich set of customer data, are the keys to communications SPs' success but can only be leveraged with a robust set of supporting software assets, a programmatic approach to AIOps, and an openness to partner ecosystems."
